Pilots are responsible for their passengers whilst airside at this aerodrome.
High visibility clothing is recommended airside.
Non-radio aircraft are not permitted to operate outside of published hours. During published hours all non-radio flights are to be approved by ATS.
All movements outside of published hours are subject to the out of hours conditions published on the airport website.
During winter hours night flying can take place on Thursdays until 2100. Intended Night Flights are subject to PPR which must be notified no later than 1500 on the date of flight.
Fuel Bay operates a one-way system, entry at the west end (near Hangar 3 east), exit at east (near the mobile fuel bowser). Aircraft to draw up with pumps on starboard side.
Pilots must moderate taxiing speeds on Taxiway A and Taxiway F due to undulating surfaces and between A4 and the Fuel Bay due to the possible presence of pedestrians in this area. Special caution must be exercised in the area adjacent to the tower where there is a marked crossing area. Taxi speeds should not exceed a fast walking pace.
There are three stands marked 1, 2 and 3 and are adjacent to the Fuel Bay. These parking stands are available for fixed wing and rotary aircraft.
Jet aircraft should seek prior approval from ATS before booking in.
Not applicable
Runway 16/34 lights may be illuminated outside ATS hours for police helicopter operations.
Helicopters are not to hover within 50 M of DME/NDB masts, which are situated northeast of the eastern apron.
Runway 16/34 shallow depression on eastern edge of runway close to Runway 34 PAPIs will hold water after rain. Runway 16/34 shallow depression crosses the runway north of Runway 34 threshold.
View from A5 Hold restricted. Care to be taken when entering/crossing Runway 34.
Aircraft should not cut corners when turning on to taxiways and runways due to bad ground and fixed objects such as markers and lighting.
Pilots must taxi with caution near the Fuel Bay and in the area adjacent to the tower where there is a marked pedestrian crossing, due to pedestrians possibly manoeuvring on the taxiway. Taxi speeds should not exceed a fast walking pace.
There are three designated helicopter pads marked 4, 5 & 6 adjacent to the mobile bowser.
Stands marked 1, 2 & 3 adjacent to the Fuel Bay can also be used to park helicopters.
Helicopters taxiing to the fuel pads are asked to operate their aircraft so as to minimise the effect of their downdraft on the nearby hangars.
Wheeled helicopters requiring fuel can expect to be instructed to land on Taxiway A to the south east of the fuel bay and then ground-taxi to fuelling pads 4, 5 or 6.
Hovering helicopters shall maintain a distance of 60 M from any active runway, taxiway, fencelines, buildings and public viewing area.
Helicopters are not to air taxi anywhere between the west of the Fuel Bay and A4 holding point, due to proximity to parked aircraft, buildings, and pedestrians. This includes the main parking apron.
See aerodrome chart for named helicopter landing areas.
Helicopters are not to land adjacent to the entrance of Hangar 3E. They should use the Helipads and be ground handled in an out of the hangar.
JET A-1 F34 Rotors running available Mon-Fri 0900-1645 (0800-1545); extensions available with advanced notice bookings. Available from Helipads 4,5 & 6 using the mobile bowser. Contact ATS to book in or for additional information.
Only Runway 16/34 is licensed for night use.
All runways and taxiway use restricted to aircraft weighing not more than twelve tonnes.
Training is permitted at the aerodrome. See website for deals on training packages.
Runway 16: All departures at the airfield boundary should make a track change of 10 degrees to the right. No left turns are to be made below 600 FT QFE. No direct overflights of Highgate Farm (523030.132N 0021457.5268W) are permitted.
Runway 34: No FANSTOP (practice engine failure after take-off) are permitted until passed Whittimere Farm (523149.1016N 0021551.696W), 1000 M beyond end of runway. Traffic turning left into the visual circuit are to avoid direct overflights of Claverley (523214.4204N 0021811.9592W) and Bobbington Village (523043.848N 0021658.116W).
Runway 28/10: Departures, approaches and visual circuits are to avoid direct overflights of Bobbington Village and Primary school (523043.848N 0021658.116W).
All visual circuits are to be completed within the ATZ.
Fixed wing circuits are LH at 1000 FT QFE.
Helicopter circuits are RH at 800 FT QFE.
Use of multiple runways is to cease when more than two aircraft are in or call to join the visual circuit. In this situation all aircraft should revert to the published runway. Any approaches to the non-published runway is then limited to one approach only with no mixed multiple circuits permitted. All aircraft are to revert to the published runway if any of the aircraft are student pilots or an emergency is declared. If Runway 16/34 is being used for a larger aircraft then it shall become the published runway until that aircraft has landed or departed the ATZ.
Autogyros are to fly the standard fixed wing circuit pattern and profiles. Pilots of autogyros are to prefix their callsign with 'Gyro' and be aware that they can be hard to see and that additional transmissions may be required to confirm their position and intentions to other aircraft.
The standard fixed wing join is overhead. Aircraft should not descend below 1300 FT QFE on the deadside due to the helicopter circuit at 800 FT QFE.
South:
IFR Airways traffic departing to the south should file a flight plan direct to CPT VOR. Flight plans should not be filed for HON VOR due to commercial traffic volumes.
North/East/West:
File flight plan as normal using preferred reporting points.
When ready to taxi, request for an airways join from ATS and await further instructions.
